The Long and Winding Road : ‘3 options for content marketing’

Liverpool   3 options for content marketing… There rages within us all the conflict between, on the one hand, achieving results quickly and then, on the other hand, sustaining results over a prolonged period of time. It is this very conflict and our response to it which is the root cause of many a failed enterprise and many a roaring success. The overnight success rarely is, some people are lucky and they stumble across something which fits the zeitgeist perfectly and no matter what they do they cannot stop revenue landing in their bank account!  Good luck to them, as they are unlikely to have such stellar luck again. The other group struggle for long periods of time to generate a critical mass of activity which through failure is refined and ultimately bears fruit. Neither of these forms of success is of any more or less merit than the other. As a company however, we must decide as soon as possible how we intend to reach our goals. This Chinese proverb helps to illustrate our choice; ‘When planning for a year, plant corn; when planning for a decade plant trees. If you are planning for life, educate people.’ So, are you in it for the short term, the medium term or the long term? If you have to think about this then you really need to decide, as your answer will dictate the future of everything you do. At 3rd Planet we are ‘in it for the long haul’ and all we do is framed by that concept. We are in the business of educating people and that takes time, effort and vision. If you are a content marketer then you should be in it for the long haul, if you are not then you are not a content marketer…you are an advertiser/marketer. If that is the case then great, there is nothing wrong with that but you must acknowledge the objectives your status adheres to. You cannot dip in and out of content marketing in order to disguise your advertising, I am afraid it doesn’t work that way…as you might well be finding Always plan for the end game, it will serve you well as you meet the obstacles and temptations along the way. see you on the long and winding road….
